The Bible - The True Source of Knowledge

Thy Word Is a Lamp Unto My Feet

We live in the information age.  With the advent of the internet, access to information is unlimited.  However, with all this information at our fingertips how knowledgeable have we really become?  Is the world better off because of it?

"My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge".  Hosea 4:6

With all the information out there we really don't know anything.

We don't know how to prevent wars

We don't know how to stop crime

We don't know how to prevent sickness

We don't know how to love our fellow man

In order to truly know and understand how to accomplish these things, we must turn to the true source of knowledge - the Bible.  Spiritual knowledge is the key to becoming wise.

To gain spiritual knowledge we need to know God.  We have rejected God and are suffering the consequences.

"My people are being destroyed because they don't know me.  It is all your fault you priests, for you yourselves refuse to know me... Since you have forgotten the laws of your God, I will forget to bless your children."  Hosea 4:6

People blame or don't believe in God because of the suffering that takes place in our world.  But God is not the cause of suffering.  Neither is he blind to it.  We are the cause of our own suffering and God allows it to prove to us that without Him, our lives are worthless.

"This is what the Lord says, "Let not the wise man gloat in his wisdom, or the mighty man in his might, or the rich man in his riches.  Let them boast in this alone: that they truly know me and understand that I am the Lord who is just and righteous, whose love is unfailing and that I delight in the theose things."  Jeremiah 9:23-24

God, through the Bible gives us Spiritual knowledge.

"For the Lord grants wisdom!  From his mouth come knowledge and understanding.  He grants a treasure of good sense to the godly."  Proverbs 1:6

We need to fear (respect, honour) God in order for him to open up our minds to receive this spiritual knowledge.

"The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge."  Proverbs 1:7

Once we realize that it is through God and His word - the Bible - that we can gain knowledge, this world would be a much better place.
